J06.10 Software Installation and Upgrade Guide
About This Document
This guide describes:
• Upgrading the initial J06.10 RVU through the use of SUT refreshes, if necessary.
• Falling back to a previous SYSnn.
Supported RVUs
This manual supports the J06.10.00 RVU and all subsequent J06.10.nn RVUs unless otherwise
noted.
Intended Audience
This guide is written for operations staff and support personnel and requires a working knowledge
of Windows Server 2003 or Windows Server 2008, OSM client and server components, system
console software, NonStop Software Essentials, DSM/SCM, Target Interface (ZPHITI), and ZPHIRNM
applications.
New and Changed Information in This Edition
This edition includes these changes:
• Added references to Support Note SN 12023 (OSM application issues with Administrator
user on NSC).
• New art in the steps for loading a system
• Changes to falling back to previous CLIM software in “Falling Back on the CLIMs, Loading
the Previous RVU, and Resuming Normal Operations ” (page 112).
Changes are indicated by change bars.
New and Changed Information in This Edition
Change bars for previous editions have been retained in the current edition.
The 627139-009 edition contained these changes:
• Support for the DHCP DNS configuration wizard
• Support for NonStop Software Essentials
• Changes to privilege requirements for running SSOCLIM after RVU and CLIM fallback
The 627139-008 edition contained additional information about USERID attributes for persistent
processes in “DSM/SCM Upgrade Issues/Interoperability SPR Requirements” (page 34), which is
marked with change bars.
The 627139-007 edition contained the following changes:
• Stronger language regarding the importance of the NonStop Firmware Matrices was added
to Chapter 2: “Managing Microcode and Firmware” (page 21) and to “Managing CLIM
Firmware” (page 28).
• “Set Up iTP WebServer” (page 102) was added to “Upgrade Checklist” (page 37) as a
requirement if iTP WebServer was installed prior to an RVU upgrade.
• “Re-deploy NonStop SOAP 4” (page 103) was added to “Upgrade Checklist” (page 37) as a
requirement if NonStop SOAP 4 was installed prior to an RVU upgrade.
The 627139-006 edition contained a change to Step 3 in “Complete CLIM Setup” (page 122) for
the need to reboot Storage CLIMs after executing the clearlog command.
