OSS Samba for NonStop
HP introduces support for Samba on NonStop. The Samba on NonStop (NonStop Samba) is a
port of Samba, the free software re-implementation of the SMB/CIFS networking protocol, on the
NonStop systems. It provides file services to Microsoft Windows clients, enabling seamless access
to the shared portions of the NonStop OSS file-system. For more information, see the Samba on
NonStop User Manual.
Migration Considerations
While migrating, you should retain the previous configurations and user account information in
order to avoid re-creating those on the new installation. Different procedures are to be followed
based on the type of migration you are performing. For more information, see the Migration
Considerations chapter of the Samba on NonStop User Manual.
Fallback Considerations
To revert to a previous version of NonStop Samba, follow these steps:
1. Back up the configuration and user credential files, if required.
2. Uninstall the current version.
3. Install the previous version to which you would like to revert.
4. Restore the configuration and user credential files, if required.
For more information, see the Migration Considerations chapter of the Samba on NonStop User
Manual.
