J06.14 Release Version Update Compendium
Measure data files BY CPU or BY ENTITY. With the BY TIME option, users can now also split
files based on a specific time interval.
For more information on the BY TIME option, see the description of the SPLIT command in the
Measure Reference Manual.
• The MEASFT INFO command has been enhanced to display a split history record of the data
file. The split history information contains the time when the data file was created, the MEASFT
banner of the MEASFT program that performed the split, and the command line that created
the data file. In addition, the time period and interval values will be displayed, if relevant.
For more information on split history records, see the description of the INFO command in the
Measure Reference Manual.
• Two sets of counters have been added to track process priority changes during a measurement:
INITIAL‐PRIORITY‐START and INITIAL‐PRIORITY‐END, and CURRENTPRIORITY‐ START and
CURRENT‐PRIORITY‐END. Tracking process priorities in a measurement can be helpful in
tuning an application.
For more information on the process priority counters, see the description of the PROCESS
entity in the Measure Reference Manual.

OSS Core Utilities
The J06.14 RVU introduces the OSS Core Utilities as an industry standard alternative (not a
replacement or update) to the original Open System Services utilities (OSSUTIL T8626). These new
OSS Core Utilities are not in all cases upwardly-compatible replacements for the original OSS UTIL
(T8626).
Many of the utilities in the initial release of the OSS Core Utilities are NonStop ports of the GNU
coreutils. Other utilities include:
• Open Source archival, compression, and decompression tools, including bzip2, gzip, and
tar
• The Open Source bash shell
• The Open Source Vi Improved text editor, Vim
The original Open System Services utilities (OSSUTIL T8626) will continue to be supported in future
releases.
For information about the OSS Core Utilities, see the Core Utilities chapter in the Open System
Services Shell and Utilities Reference Manual.
Migration Considerations
None. The new OSS Core Utilities can coexist with the Open System Services utilities (OSSUTIL
T8626). For detailed usage considerations, see the Core Utilities chapter in the Open System
Services Shell and Utilities Reference Manual.
Fallback Considerations
The OSS Core Utilities are not available for systems running J06.13 or earlier J-series RVUs.
If no new utilities from the OSS Core Utilities are used after migrating to J06.14, there are no
fallback considerations.
