SQL/MX Release 3.2
The SQL/MX Release 3.2 includes key features including:
BigNum Host Variable Support for Embedded SQL Programs
The external format for the SQL/MX BigNum data type is currently an ASCII character format.
A new binary format for the BigNum data type values is introduced. Basic arithmetic functions,
comparison functions, and a few conversion routines are provided.
Self-referencing inserts
With support for self-referencing inserts, you can select rows from the table and insert these
rows into the same table.
Support for similarity checks
Similarity checks are now supported for queries referencing views or using unique indexes.
BR2 support for objects with DDL greater than 3000 characters
BR2 supports objects with DDL greater than 3000 characters.
Introduction of the CLEANUP utility
CLEANUP is an OSS command-line utility that is run from mxtool. The CLEANUP utility can
remove damaged objects and orphaned partitions in instances where a regular DROP operation
fails.
Introduction of the OBEYDDL option
The OBEYDDL option is introduced to restore referential integrity constraints, stored procedures,
triggers, and views.
Multi Commit Delete
Using a single DELETE statement, you can delete a large number of records (Long Running
Delete) in a series of smaller transactions automatically.
Arithmetic Functions
Support is now provided for Datetime arithmetic functions.
Utilities
The UPGRADE and DOWNGRADE commands are enhanced to support metadata upgrade
or downgrade for an individual catalog, or set of related catalogs instead of the entire system.
MFC support for BigNum data type in parameterized queries
Module File Caching (MFC) now supports the BigNum data type in parameterized queries.
Introduction of SQL/MX Database Manager
SQL/MX Release 3.2 introduces a new tool, called the SQL/MX Database Manager (MXDM).
MXDM is an integrated GUI client that enables you to connect to, and manage multiple NonStop
SQL/MX databases. Using MXDM, you can browse database and MXCS objects, execute
DDL and DML statements, view query results, manage MXCS objects, assign access permissions
to system users, and launch the HP NonStop SQL/MX Remote Conversational Interface (RMXCI).
Support for connection encryption using NonStop SSL
JDBC connections now support encrypted SSL communication using NonStop SSL and Comforte.
Introduction of the NonStop SQL/MX Linux ODBC/MX Client Driver
With the introduction of NonStop SQL/MX Linux ODBC/MX Client Driver in SQL/MX Release
3.2, Linux ODBC applications can access data from an SQL/MX database.
Support for Remote SQL/MX Conversational Interface (RMXCI) on Windows
RMXCI is supported on the Windows platform with SQL/MX Release 3.2.
