About This Document This compendium provides categorized information about new features, migration issues, and fallback considerations for J06.15. It also includes references and sources for migration planning. Supported Release Version Updates (RVUs) This manual supports the J06.15 RVU only. Intended Audience This compendium is written for system managers or anyone who needs to understand how migrating to J06.
1 J06.15 Overview This chapter provides an overview of the J06.15 RVU. Major New Features Table 1 summarizes the main changes in J06.15. For descriptions of new features, see the appropriate chapters. Table 1 Summary of the J06.
Preparation, Planning, and Migration • If you are migrating from a H-series to a J-series RVU, before you begin migrating applications, contact your HP representative to analyze your applications and identify specific modules and program components that require changes for migration to an J-series RVU. • For the physical, electrical, and environmental specifications used by HP professional service providers for site preparation, see the planning guide for the server you are running.
2 Operating System OSS Security Event-Exit Process (SEEP) The J06.15 RVU provides support for a customer or partner Open System Services Security Event-Exit Process (OSS SEEP) that participates in access-control decisions for OSS objects. An OSS SEEP provides additional file-access authorization for Version 3 catalog filesets that are OSS SEEP-protected. This capability increases the acceptability of OSS-based applications to security auditors and improves OSS security manageability.
• creat() • creat64() • lchown() • open() • open64() • unlink() • utime() For information about the changes, see the Open System Services System Calls Reference Manual. Migration Considerations None. Fallback Considerations OSS applications on systems running J06.14 or earlier J-series RVUs cannot access Guardian files on SMF logical volumes. Disk Space Analysis Program (DSAP) The J06.15 RVU enhances DSAP by displaying Guardian to OSS filename mappings with the SHOWPATH DETAIL option.
3 Application Development Products NonStop Server for Java 7.0 NonStop Server for Java 7.0 (NSJ7) provides the following new features: • Supports 64-bit JRE/JDK in addition to 32-bit JRE/JDK. A new product number T2866 has been introduced to provide the 64-bit functionality. • Installable using DSM/SCM (both 32-bit (T2766) and 64-bit JRE/JDK (T2866)). • HPjmeter Agents (T0866) and TZupdater (T0911) are also available for installation via DSM/SCM.
• Protection Orders • Timestamps • Username Tokens • X.509 Certificate Token Profile • WS-Security Policy Version 1.1 Migration Considerations None. Fallback Considerations None. NonStop SOAP 4.
4 Database and Transaction Processing Products SQL/MX Release 3.2.1 The SQL/MX Release 3.2.1 includes key features, such as: Support for sequence generators A sequence generator is a database object that generates unique sequential values. MXDM and BR2 are enhanced to support sequence generators. • MXDM ◦ T2860 (GUI to connect and manage SQL/MX) ◦ Windows installer location: $SYSTEM.
Interoperability SQL/MX 3.2.1 interoperates with SQL/MX 3.2. NSJ 7.0 support SPJ, JDBC/MX T2 (32-bit, 64-bit), and T4 drivers require NSJ7.0. • • NOTE: JDBC/MX T2 Driver ◦ T1275 (JDBC Type 2 Driver) ◦ Pax file location: $SYSTEM.ZOSSUTL ◦ Filename: T1275PAX JDBC/MX T4 Driver ◦ T1249 (JDBC Type 4 Driver) ◦ Tar file location: $SYSTEM.ZMXODBC ◦ Filename: T1249TAR The upgrade will not affect the standard RVU Installation procedure.
If you wish to fall back to a release older than the SQL/MX Release 3.2, you must undo all the changes done while upgrading (such as downgrading the database or recompiling the applications) to a higher release. All metadata must be downgraded while the system is running SQL/MX Release 3.2.1 to a version that is supported by the target release for the fallback. TMF 3.7 The following TMF products are modified to run at high pin. All of these products run at high pin by default.
5 Installation and Configuration Products The J06.15 RVU contains no new features for installation and configuration products.
6 Manageability and Security Products OSM Enhancements OSM Service Connection (T0682 H02 ADD) enhancements include: • Support for Gen8 CLIMs. • Display of the Firmware Version attribute on the CLIM Hard Disk. • Support for double chip sparing. For NonStop BladeSystem NB54000c, NonStop NS2100, and NS2200 servers, which have 4-bit wide DRAM devices, an alarm calling for DIMM replacement is not generated until two DRAM devices within the same rank fail, saving unnecessary servicing.
that occasionally occurred when multiple Movers were started concurrently. XMA has also been updated to process the audit trail added in the latest release of Compliance PRO (XSW), and the updated XYGATE Object Security (XOS) audit. Migration Considerations None. Fallback Considerations None. Safeguard V5R1 Safeguard V5R1 has the following new features: • A new attribute TIMEOUT-ALL-AUTHZREQ is introduced as part of the SEEP management commands to support the timeout concept for deniable users.
7 Hardware Products Gen8 CLIMs HP introduces support for next-generation of CLuster I/o Modules (CLIMs) on these platforms: • HP Integrity NonStop NS2100 • HP Integrity NonStop NS2200 • HP Integrity NonStop NB54000c BladeSystem • HP Integrity NonStop NB50000c BladeSystem The new CLIMs require J06.15 or later J-series RVU.
8 Networking Products Expand Auto Rebalance Control Option This enhancement is implemented to manage auto-rebalance triggered when a path experiences transient failure. This inadvertent rebalance causes duplication of messages while they are being processed by the remote application. To circumvent the situation and control initiation of the rebalance, a new modifier REBALTHRESHOLD is introduced, which defines the optimal threshold time below which NCP would not initiate rebalance.
Fallback Considerations Enhancements implemented in this release do not introduce any fallback issues.
A Sources for Migration Assistance and Information This appendix describes the assistance HP provides when problems arise during the migration and testing process. HP also provides services that can help you develop a migration plan and implement migration tasks. Most migration and release documentation is available through the HP NonStop Technical Library (NTL).
By providing access to a data warehouse with SPR information for many different RVUs, Scout makes SPR analysis fast, easy, and accurate.
