Changing the System Name of an H-Series Based NonStop System This procedure describes how to change the system name of an H-series based NonStop system that has already been installed. It applies to: NonStop NS1000 systems, NonStop NS1200 systems, NonStop NS3000AC systems, NonStop NS5000CG systems, NonStop NS5000T systems, NonStop NS14000 series systems, and NonStop NS16000 series systems.
1. 2. 3. 4. 5. Be sure you have the credentials to log on to the components that need to be changed. For example: • The Administrator ID and password for the NonStop system console • The passwords for the root ID and the user ID on any CLIMs. • A SUPER group user ID and password for the NonStop system. Record the current SYSnn running on the system.
In the INFO display, confirm that the ALTFILE parameter does not contain the system name. If it does, issue the FUP ALTER command to change the ALTFILE parameter so that it does not explicitly contain the system name. 15. Log on to the OSM Low-Level Link. When a dialog box appears about updating the system list, click Yes. 16. Click the Processor Status button. 17. Select all the processors and perform the Halt action. 18. Close the Processor Status dialog box. 19. Log off the OSM Low-Level Link.
38. 39. 40. 41. 42. 43. 44. 45. 46. In the IP address box, enter the IP address of the ServerNet switch board in module 2. Enter a valid user name and password. Click Log On. Select System Discovery. In the tree pane, expand the first IOAM enclosure (usually GRP-110) to display GRP-110.MOD-2. Right-click GRP-110.MOD-2 and select Actions. From the Actions dialog box, select Configure Module. Click Perform Action.
64. Click OK to apply the changes. A dialog box appears with another warning that the current session on the system will be lost and requesting that you reset the ME. 65. Click OK to reset the ME. The OSM Low-Level Link connection is lost, and you are disconnected. When you reset the ME, a one to two minute delay occurs before the LCD displays are updated. 66. Examine the LCD on the VIO module 2. Verify that the new system name is displayed correctly. 67.
87. In the Configure CLIM dialog box: • Change the system name in the System Name text box. • Change the system name portion of the iLO Hostname text box. • Click Configure. 88. When prompted to reset the CLIM, click Yes. When a message about a remote disconnection appears, click OK. 89. Repeat the steps in this section for every CLIM on the system.
