Changing the System Name of a NonStop System for H-Series RVUs

In the INFO display, confirm that the ALTFILE parameter does not contain the system name. If
it does, issue the FUP ALTER command to change the ALTFILE parameter so that it does not
explicitly contain the system name.
15. Log on to the OSM Low-Level Link. When a dialog box appears about updating the system
list, click Yes.
16. Click the Processor Status button.
17. Select all the processors and perform the Halt action.
18. Close the Processor Status dialog box.
19. Log off the OSM Low-Level Link.
Change the System Name in the P-switches
NOTE: Perform these steps only if the system is equipped with p-switches (NS16000 series and
NS16000CG systems).
20. From the OSM Low-Level Link, select File>Logon.
21. In the logon dialog box, select Logon to a ServerNet Switch.
22. In the IP address box, enter the IP address of the ServerNet switch board in the module 2
p-switch.
23. Enter a valid user name and password. Click Log On.
24. Select System Discovery.
25. Expand the tree pane to locate GRP-100.MOD-2.
26. Right-click GRP-100.MOD-2and select Actions.
27. From the Actions dialog box, select Configure Module.
28. Click Perform Action. The Configure Module dialog box appears.
29. Enter the new system name in the System Name field of the dialog box. Enter the name in all
uppercase letters. Do not use a backslash before the system name.
30. Click OK.
A dialog box appears warning that ServerNet and LAN connectivity could be lost and that a
reset of the maintenance entity (ME) is required.
31. Click OK to apply the changes.
A dialog box appears with another warning that the current session on the system will be lost
and requesting that you reset the ME.
32. Click OK to reset the ME.
The OSM Low-Level Link connection is lost and you are disconnected.
When you reset the ME, a one to two minute delay occurs before the LCD displays are updated.
33. Examine the LCD of the ServerNet switch board you just configured. Verify that the new system
name appears in the display.
34. Repeat the previous steps for GRP-100.MOD-3.
When you use the OSM Low-Level Link to enter the IP address for the other ServerNet switch
board, you might see only one module. This occurrence is normal.
35. After you change the system name in both modules, compare the LCDs of both ServerNet
switch boards. Verify that the system names match on both LCDs.

NOTE: Perform these steps only if the system is equipped with IOAM enclosures.
36. From the OSM Low-Level Link, select File>Logon.
37. In the logon dialog box, select Logon to a ServerNet Switch.
