Replacing a Memory Unit

Replacing a Memory Unit
Memory units are located within a processor multifunction (PMF) CRU. S7000 and
S70000 memory units can be replaced in the field, while all other memory units must
be replaced by a manufacturing facility authorized by HP.
To replace a memory unit, the PMF CRU containing the memory unit must be removed
from its enclosure. The following is a summary of the tasks involved in replacing a
memory unit in a NonStop S-series server.
1 Use the appropriate OSM action or guided procedure to remove the PMF
CRU from its enclosure. See Guided Procedures for more information.
2 Follow the instructions in the online help for the action or procedure to
replace the memory unit within the PMF CRU.
Note: These instructions were written for one specific scenario but apply
no matter what your reason for replacing memory. The possible reasons and
strategies are listed next.
3 Resume the PMF CRU replacement procedure in the action or procedure to
reinsert the PMF CRU in its enclosure.
A memory CRU might be replaced for a variety of reasons using appropriate
