Updating Firmware in an NS-Series Server

e. Place the new HSS Firmware CD in the DVD drive tray.
f. Gently push the tray to close it.
CAUTION: You must close the tray immediately, or the CD will not be detected. If this
happens, repeat Steps 2 and 4 to power off the blade element and then back on, and then
continue.
NOTE:
The System LED blinks green until you reload the processor in the following step.
This CD must remain in the blade element until a future HSS firmware update is required
and the CD is replaced. The CD cannot be ejected until the blade element is power
cycled.
6. Reload the processor:
a. Verify that the associated processor is halted. Use the OSM Service Connection to check
the attributes of the associated Logical Processor object. The Processor State (from ME)
should be Halted.
b. Perform the OSM Service Connection Reload action on Logical Processor object associated
with the blade element.
c. Wait until the Processor State (from ME) displays Running NSK and the system LED on
the blade element stops blinking and remains green.
7. Use the OSM Set Locator LED State action on the Blade Element object to turn off the blue
locator LED if you turned it on in Step 1.
8. Repeat this procedure for each blade element in the system.
