Upgrading to S74000 PMF CRUs

This procedure upgrades both PMF CRUs in a processor enclosure to S74000 PMF

CRUs online.

Restrictions

The existing PMF CRUs must be S70000 or S72000 PMF CRUs. You cannot upgrade

any other type of PMF CRU using this procedure.

S74000 PMF CRUs require G06.08 or later RVU. This upgrade procedure includes

migrating to G06.08 or later RVU, if necessary. After the migration, you can replace the

PMF CRUs online.

After you upgrade the first PMF CRU in an enclosure, you must immediately replace

the peer PMF CRU by performing a new OSM action on the peer PMF CRU or by

using a new session of the guided replacement tool.

Caution: An S74000 PMF CRU must not remain in the same enclosure with an

S70000 or S72000 PMF CRU.

For G06.10, when a PMF CRU is upgraded online and a tape device is

configured to that PMF CRU, the GRT might fail, the peer processor will not

be able to access the new PMF CRU adapter, subsequent controller

downloads to all SACs of the adapter will fail, and none of the disk and tape

paths through the adapter will come up. See HS02633 for the workaround

and fix.

For systems with four or more processors, you might need to make the

extended segment sizes for the TMFMON and TMP processes larger than

the default sizes before you upgrade your PMF CRUs. You might also need

to alter the TransCountThresh values to support larger transaction

volumes. See HS02519D for details.
