PMF CRU or IOMF CRU Initializes Slowly: Amber Fault LED Flashes for a Long Time

PMF CRU or IOMF CRU Initializes Slowly:
Amber Fault LED Flashes for a Long Time
Symptom
One PMF CRU or IOMF CRU initializes more slowly than the other PMF
CRUs or IOMF CRUs in the same system, and its amber fault LED flashes
on and off for an extended period of time.
Version
All.
Problem
The PMF CRU or IOMF CRU has a corrupted copy of the SP firmware
image. Probably the most recent SP firmware update failed.
When a PMF CRU or IOMF CRU has a corrupted SP firmware image, it
loads the SP firmware image from the other PMF CRU or IOMF CRU in the
same enclosure. During this load (called an IDD Load), the CRU’s amber
fault LED flashes.
Unless you perform an SP firmware update on the PMF CRU or IOMF CRU
with the corrupted SP firmware image, the CRU will perform an IDD Load
each time you either insert the CRU into its slot, reset the CRU, or power
the system off and then on again.
Caution: You should update corrupted SP firmware immediately. An
enclosure that contains a PMF CRU or IOMF CRU with corrupted SP
firmware is not fault-tolerant, because only one service processor in the
enclosure contains appropriate firmware.
Fix
1 Using the OSM Service Connection or the TSM Service
Application, update the SP firmware on the affected PMF CRU or
IOMF CRU (see the application's online help for detailed
instructions).
2 Reset the service processor on the affected PMF CRU or IOMF
CRU (see the application's online help for detailed instructions).
If both PMF CRUs or IOMF CRUs in one enclosure are affected,
do not reset both service processors in the enclosure at the
same time. First reset one service processor; then after it is
operating normally, reset the other service processor.
