Troubleshooting the SLSA Subsystem

Ethernet 4 ServerNet Adapters (E4SAs), Fast Ethernet ServerNet Adapters (FESAs), and Gigabit
Ethernet ServerNet Adapters (GESAs):
Cause: The download operation code or firmware version does not match the NonStop Kernel operating
system version.
Recovery: If the firmware on the adapter (specified by the FIRMWAREFILENAME attribute) is not
current, update it by following the instructions in Updating the Firmware on a SLSA Adapter. If the
download operation code (specified by the DLFILENAME attribute) is not current, update it by performing
the following steps:
1 Abort the SAC.
Use the SCF ABORT SAC command with the SUB ALL option:
ABORT SAC $ZZLAN.<adapter>.<sac>, SUB ALL
2 Alter the download operation code for the SAC.
Use the SCF ALTER SAC command:
ALTER SAC $ZZLAN.<adapter>.<sac>,
DLFILENAME $SYSTEM.SYS<nn>.<filename>
The file name for the download operation code is different for each adapter:
ATM3SA: C0440P00
CCSA: C0303P00
E4SA: C7957P00
FESA: C0301P00
GESA: C0507P00
3 Restart the SAC.
Use the SCF START SAC command with the SUB ALL option:
START SAC $ZZLAN.<adapter>.<sac>, SUB ALL
The download operation code is downloaded to the SAC when the SAC changes from the
STOPPED state to the STARTING state.
Cause: The MAC address of a physical interface (PIF) supported by the SAC conflicts with the MAC
address of another PIF in the network.
Recovery: The MAC address is generated by manufacturing and cannot be changed in the field. You
must replace the adapter. For replacement instructions, see:
