Troubleshooting the SLSA Subsystem

For Multifunction I/O Board/Ethernet Adapters (MFIOB/Es):
Cause: The ServerNet bus interface (SBI) application-specific integrated circuit (ASIC) has detected a
ServerNet port error.
Recovery: Make sure that the SP is operational. See Service Processor (SP) Troubleshooting Tips for
more information.
Cause: The service processor (SP) is repeatedly resetting itself.
Recovery: Make sure that the SP is operational. See Service Processor (SP) Troubleshooting Tips for
more information.
Cause: The MAC address of the physical interface (PIF) supported by the SAC conflicts with the MAC
address of another PIF on the network.
Recovery: The MAC address is generated by manufacturing and cannot be changed in the field. You
must replace the adapter, which means you must replace the IOMF CRU or PMF CRU.
Incorrect Logical Configuration Alarm
This alarm is generated when the adapter type specified in the SCF ADD ADAPTER TYPE attribute does
not match the type of adapter; for example, when an Ethernet 4 ServerNet adapter (E4SA) is configured
as TYPE TRSA.
To recover from this error, you must delete the adapter and reconfigure it, this time specifying the correct
adapter type in the TYPE attribute. See LAN Configuration and Management Manual for information
about adding adapters.
Hardware Error Alarm
This alarm is generated for an ATM3SA, CCSA, E4SA, FESA, GESA, or TRSA CRU when the SP is
unable to communicate with the adapter. This may occur if the adapter is powered off or if there is a
hardware malfunction on the adapter. This alarm can also be generated for a ServerNet addressable
controller (SAC) on a CCSA when the LAN manager process ($ZZLAN) cannot communicate with a
plug-in card (PIC) because the PIC type is unknown.
To recover from this alarm when it is generated for a CRU, make sure the adapter is powered on. If the
adapter is powered on and the alarm persists, you must replace the adapter. For replacement
instructions, see:
ATM3SA: Replacing an ATM3SA CRU procedure
CCSA: 6763 Common Communications ServerNet Adapter Installation and Support Guide
E4SA: Replacing an E4SA CRU procedure
FESA: Fast Ethernet Adapter Installation and Support Guide
GESA: Gigabit Ethernet Adapter Installation and Support Guide
TRSA: Replacing a TRSA CRU procedure
To recover from this alarm when it is generated for a SAC on a CCSA, you might need to replace the PIC.
For information about replacing a PIC, see Replacing or Installing ServerNet Adapter Plug-In Cards
(PICs).
