Troubleshooting the SWAN Concentrator and WAN Subsystem

Hardware Error Alarm
This alarm is generated when the power-on self-test (POST) fails, the fan in the SWAN
concentrator stops rotating, or the power supply in the SWAN concentrator is not
operational.
If the fan is not rotating, check for a loose connection. If the power supply is not operational
or if the fan will not rotate, you must replace the SWAN concentrator.
IOP Line Parameters Error Alarm
This alarm is generated when one or more of the attributes for a WAN subsystem device
(DEVICE object) is set to an invalid or out-of-range value, or if conflicting attributes are
configured.
To recover from this alarm, verify that the WAN subsystem devices are configured correctly,
and correct any WAN subsystem device configuration errors.
Note: If you do not know the names of the WAN subsystem devices that use the SWAN
concentrator, use the SCF INFO DEVICE command as shown in the example.
SWAN Kernel Error Alarm
This alarm is generated when a problem is detected with the SWAN firmware on the SWAN
concentrator. This alarm can indicate:
The CLIP was not in a STOPPED state when you tried to execute the Test Verify
action.
The SWAN firmware object code file (specified by the KERNELCODE attribute) could
not be downloaded to the SWAN concentrator.
Note: The KERNELCODE attribute for the SWAN (3880) Concentrator is
C7953P00. The KERNELCODE attribute for the SWAN 2 (3881) Concentrator
is C7953Q00.
The SWAN firmware needs to be updated.
To recover from this alarm:
Stop the CLIP and retry the Test Verify action. For more information, see Preparing a
SWAN CLIP for the Test Verify Test Action or Firmware Update.
Try to clear the alarm.
If the alarm persists:
Make sure that the SWAN firmware object code file is secured with "N" read access.
