Troubleshooting the SWAN Concentrator and WAN Subsystem

Verifying LAN Hardware for a SWAN
Concentrator
Verifying the local area network (LAN) hardware used by a SWAN concentrator involves
standard networking troubleshooting techniques such as checking Ethernet segments,
Ethernet cables, and Ethernet hubs to isolate the location of a failure.
The WAN subsystem currently supports private or local Ethernet segments only.
Note: To connect more than one SWAN concentrator to an Ethernet 4 ServerNet
adapter (E4SA) or Fast Ethernet ServerNet adapter (FESA) port, HP recommends using
Ethernet hubs. HP does not recommend the use of other types of network devices such as
routers or gateways because the SWAN concentrator transmits TCP/IP broadcast
messages that these devices might not support.
