Considerations for booting clusters with SCSIPO RT miniport drivers
Windows operating systems require that the HBA used for booting is not the same HBA used for cluster
shared storage. You must use separate HBAs or HBA ports in each ser ver when setting up for cluster
booting. In general, the key steps for setting up b ooting include:
• Installing all HBAs but not connecting them
• Configu
ring each HBA that attaches to boot disks for booting (for clusters, a RAID array needs
two separatebootdisks)
• Connecting and setting up each HBA for booting, one at a time
• Sett i

up disk connectivity from each unique boot disk to its server, using the command line
inter
face (CLI) or GUI
• Installing the Windows operating system on a unique and dedicated disk in the RAID array
• Ensuring that the drive letters are the same for the boot disk s on both servers
