What’s New in release 4.5
Release 4.5 adds significant features to the Windows-on-Integrity solution:
Hardware
• The Intel® Dual Core Itanium® 2 processor
— Based on 90nm process technology with a dual core design that includes more than 1.7 billion
transistors and a 24 MB cache
— The dual-core processor plugs directly into a single processor socket, but the operating system
perceives each execution core as a discrete logical processor, with associated execution
resources. By splitting the workload between two execution cores, the processor significantly
increases the work performed in a single clock cycle.
— Includes hyper-threading which enables applications to execute parallel instructions streams
(threads) in a processor, resulting in more efficient resource use, higher throughput, and better
performance. Integrity servers ship from the factory with hyper-threading turned off.
— USB and DVD install and boot capabilities for rx7640, rx8640, Superdome sx1000 and
Superdome sx2000 servers.
• New and upgraded servers based on the Intel® Dual Core Itanium® 2 processor
— Entry-level rx3600 and rx6600 servers are now available
— With Virtual Media and Virtual KVM support
— rx8640 and rx7640 now support 128 GB to 256 GB total memory using 4 GB DIMMs.
Superdome sx2000 supports up to 1 TB of memory using 4GB DIMMs
• TFT7600 Keyboard support:
— This keyboard is supported by all Integrity servers

• The HP Virtual Machine (HPVM) software allows a single Integrity server to emulate multiple
virtual machines running distinct operating environment
