Default Console: hp integrity rx2600 Server
The purpose of this document is to provide basic information regarding default console behavior of hp integrity rx2600
Servers. Refer to operating system documentation for detailed information. Failure to properly configure the console
device can result in the inability to interact with the server. This symptom may be misinterpreted as a system hang.
hp Integrity rx2600 Servers offer many different connections for system console use:
· Serial via the SERIAL A connector
· Graphics via the VGA port of the ECI (Extended Core I/O)
· Serial via the CONSOLE cable of the ECI (Extended Core I/O)
· LAN via the LAN connector of the ECI (Extended Core I/O)
Extensible Firmware Interface (EFI)
Prior to installing and booting an operating system, all console interaction is through system firmware. System firmware
mirrors the output to all connections. You may interact with EFI via any of the console connections.
Once an operating system is installed, the default system console may be affected. Refer to the appropriate operating
system information.
