CAUTION There are restrictions on the number of PCI-X cards that can be installed in the rx2620 server
at any given time, depending on the cards being used.
Maximum quantity for any I/O configuration using 337972-B21, AB287A, or A9890A cards:
• Three A9890A cards maximum plus one unpopulated slot
• Two 337972-B21 cards maximum plus two unpopulated slots
• One AB287A card maximum plus three unpopulated slots
Failure to observe this caution results in system degradation, or system failure.
CAUTION Failure to properly complete the steps in this procedure will result in erratic system behavior
or system failure. For assistance with this procedure contact your local HP Authorized Service
Provider.
Observe all ESD safety precautions before attempting this procedure. Failure to follow ESD
safety precautions could result in damage to the server.
Removing the PCI Cage
To remove the PCI cage from the server, perform the following steps:
Step 1. Remove the top metal cover if not already removed See “Removing the Top Metal Cover” on
page 35.
Step 2. Lift up on the PCI cage release lever and the back edge of the PCI cage and lift the PCI cage out of
the system. Figure 3-12 and Figure 3-13 show how to remove the PCI card cage.
