SMS Inventory Tool for HP ProLiant and Integrity Update User Guide

Known issues
The following sections contain information about known issues with SMS Inventory Tool for HP ProLiant
and Integrity Update 1.2.
The previous version of the scan tool is executed after uninstalling and reinstalling
the inventory tool
Issue: A previous version of the scan tool is executed after uninstalling and reinstalling the inventory
tool. When you create a package and advertisement using the DSUW, the installed scan tool is
automatically associated and executed at run time by the advertisement. The package will continue to be
advertised with the previous version of the scan tool if the package and advertisement created with the
DSUW is not deleted when uninstalling the inventory tool.
Resolution: Delete all packages and advertisements created with the DSUW when uninstalling the
inventory tool. Recreate the package and advertisement after the inventory tool is reinstalled.
Specifying an authentication account for the synchronization task
Issue: In some network configurations, anonymous access is not allowed through the firewall, or a
specific proxy host must be specified to connect to the Internet.
Workaround: In these configurations, you can still enable unattended operation for synchronization by
using the PatchDownloader.exe application to specify a user account that has credentials for access
through the firewall. For more information on using PatchDownloader.exe, see the Microsoft® Systems
Management Server 2003 Operations Guide.
Enabling access privilege for the synchronization task when obtaining the manifest
catalog from a local share
Issue: The synchronization task fails while copying the HP manifest catalog to a network share.
Workaround: The synchronization task executed by the SMS Client Agent uses the Local System
account by default. When the HP manifest catalog is stored on a network share, the account running the
synchronization task must have access privilege to the network share. The system hosting the network
share must be a trusted member of the Active Directory domain of the SMS site server.
The inventory tool does not recognize HP software before version 4.05 (HP
Integrity servers)
Issue: IPF software updates cannot be applied to the system because there is no HP Integrity support
pack installed or the support pack is a release before version 4.05
Workaround: SMS will not recognize HP software before version 4.05 to be updated from the HP
catalog. Install a support pack with version 4.05 or later, or install the software updates manually.
The inventory tool falsely reports default drivers as compliant (HP Integrity servers)
Issue: SMS will not update the drivers for new hardware if the Microsoft® default drivers have not been
updated to the latest HP drivers. Because SMS does not check the versions of the Microsoft® drivers, it
reports that the system is compliant when it is not.
Workaround: Install a support pack with version 4.05 or later, or install the appropriate HP drivers
manually.
