Overview An HP AB312-3405A air baffle is provided to improve air flow over HP AM225A, AM232A, and AM233A cards that are installed in HP Integrity rx7640 and rx8640 servers. Installing the air baffle To install the air baffle, follow these steps: 1. Install the card into the server and close the blue locker. 2. Determine the correct orientation of the air baffle. The thicker end tab must be installed between the PCI bay’s blue lockers; the thinner end tab must be installed facing the fan bay.

The baffle should rest lightly above the card. The top of the air baffle should be flush with the top of the blue lockers. Figure 3 Removing the air baffle IMPORTANT: The air baffle must be installed to ensure proper air flow over the card. Only remove it in order to service or replace the card. To remove the baffle, gently pull it up from the slot’s blue locker; then remove it from the slot. Be sure to re-install the air baffle after servicing is completed.
