SmartSetup Scripting Toolkit Deployment Guide for HP Integrity Servers with Windows Server 2003 and Windows Server 2008 for Itanium-based Systems

Editing the SSTKConfig.cmd file
The SSTKConfig.cmd file is located in the scripts folder. For Windows Server 2003, you
must set the following variables:
default_action Set to deploy. Directs the SSTK to perform a deploy action.
os_deploy Set to 2003-enterprise. Specifies to deploy Windows Server 2003
Enterprise. This is the name of the folder in which the Windows
installation files in the repository are stored.
controller Specifies the OEM driver to the boot controller. If controller is blank,
Windows Server 2003 Enterprise uses a retail driver. SSTK permits the
following values (identical to the folder names where the OEM drivers
are stored):
emulex
lsi_sas
lsi_ultra160
lsi_ultra320
qlogic
smart_array_53xx_64xx
smart_array_sas
NOTE: If controller is not set and Windows Server 2003 Enterprise
does not have native support (a retail driver) for the boot controller,
Windows Setup fails with STOP ERROR 0x07B. For a list of controllers
that require an OEM driver, see Appendix A (page 71).
Preparing for Windows 2008 deployment
To prepare for Windows 2003 Enterprise deployment, follow these steps:
1. Upload the OEM device drivers
2. Modify the answer file
3. Edit the SSTKConfig.cmd file
Uploading OEM device drivers
Adding OEM drivers for Windows Server 2008 installation in the drivers repository folder is not
necessary. The Windows Server 2008 Setup uses the OEM drivers installed in the SSTK boot
image. See “Installing OEM drivers in the boot image” (page 18).
Modifying the answer file
To support unattended installations, the SSTK provides customized answer files for Windows
Server 2008 in the os\unattended_files folder. You must edit the os\unattended_files\
2008-server\unattended.xml answer file and enter the Windows Product Key and the
Administrator Password. You can use either a text editor or the Windows System Image Manager
(WSIM) to edit the answer file. If you use a text editor to edit the answer file, the Administrator
password is stored as a plain text. If you use WSIM, the Administrator password is encrypted.
HP recommends that you use WSIM.
NOTE: In Windows Server 2003 Enterprise, the Administrator password always appears as
plain text in the answer file.
The format for this information is as follows:
<UserData>
<ProductKey>
