11.5 HP StoreVirtual Storage Release Notes

To enhance security of the LeftHand OS software, the software has been revised to verify that x11
port forwarding is disabled and to disable ciphers that support less than 128-bit cipher strength.
Improved CLI performance when using commands like getClusterInfo, getGroupInfo, and
getVolumeInfo in a management group with a large number of iSCSI sessions. This performance
improvement should prevent timeouts that have been observed when running applications like
Veeam Backup and Replication software against volumes and snapshots in such a configuration.
In a scenario in which a volume had an alarm status (such as Unprotected or Error) and multiple
email recipients were configured for a Warning severity notification, those recipients would receive
a volume status report every 10 minutes. This report was sent even though there was no change
in the volume status and would continue to be sent until the volume status returned to Normal.
LeftHand OS 11.0 will only send a volume status report notification if there is a change in the
volume status.
Fixed a calculation error in the SNMP get command clusClusterUtilization that caused
it to report an incorrect value for cluster utilization.
Fixed a rare situation in which the underlying disk subsystem became slow due to hardware
failures. As a result, the manager process aborted and failed to restart and the "No state found"
error appeared in the log.
Changed the firmware validation rule in Version 11.0 of the CMC so that it does not offer older
firmware patches if the storage system components (like the RAID controller) are already running
a newer firmware version. This issue was only seen when the newer version number included a
hyphen (-) , such as 4.59-12 or 6.00-2, which caused the firmware validation rule to fail, resulting
in the CMC offering older firmware patches.
Fixed an issue that caused Active Directory login to fail on some storage systems in a large
management group. This issue occurred because the Active Directory configuration was not
synchronized across all storage systems due to an error in the IP address validation rule.
Added a System option to the Preferences window in the CMC, which allows users to configure
(enable/disable) message filtering, set the processing interval and configure (enable/disable)
message filter logging. These options are useful when monitoring multiple, large management
groups simultaneously, which previously resulted in the CMC displaying a Not responding
message.
LeftHand OS 11.0 includes a fix to help maintain compatibility between older storage system
versions and the SRA. A specific issue occurred in a mixed management group that contained
P4300/P4500 and P4300 G2/P4500 G2 storage systems. The G2 storage systems were
upgraded to LeftHand OS 10.5, but the management group version remained at 9.5 because
the older P4300/P4500 cannot be upgraded to 10.x. As a result of this mixed version scenario,
the 10.x SRA could not discover devices, which put the disaster recovery plan at risk after the
10.5 upgrade.
Fixed an issue that validated an Active Directory user with a password containing invalid
characters, and that user was subsequently prevented from logging into the CMC. Now an error
message is received when configuring Active Directory credentials containing invalid characters.
The CLI command setdnsinfo has been fixed to ensure that it does not allow the addition of
more than the maximum of three DNS servers.
The CLI command creategroup creates a management group using the storage system with
the earliest version LeftHand OS, and subsequently adds storage systems running later versions.
The Online Upgrade feature now identifies prerequisite patches and the order in which patches
will be applied during a software upgrade.
Exporting events to a file no longer fails if the management group name contains an asterisk (*)
or a question mark (?).
