14. From the Matrix home page, select
Tools>Infrastructure Orchestration
 to launch the infrastructure orchestration
console, and then select the
Templates
 tab.
15. Verify that the template created earlier is displayed, that the template is Published, and that the user who will
create the service is included in the list of Assigned Users.
Automatic configuration of the ESXi host service console on the management network
using Insight Control server provisioning
Network switches can be automatically configured via server group user-defined properties in the Matrix infrastructure
orchestration service template. These properties will be interpreted by the Insight Control server provisioning script “Inject
Multi-NIC Required ESXi Kickstart Settings”, to configure and team NICs as desired
1. Select the
Properties
tab in the Configure Server Group dialog.
2. Enter “
standard_switch
” (without the quotes) into the Name control.
3. In the Value control define which Matrix networks will be configured for each NIC.
Example : vSwitch0=VLAN_TRUNK1,VLAN_TRUNK2; vSwitch1=VLAN_TRUNK3,VLAN_TRUNK4
• In this example we are configuring 2 vSwitches: vSwitch0 and vSwitch1.
• vSwitch definitions are separated by semicolons.
• Networks added to vSwitches are separated by commas.
• vSwitch0 will team the NICs created for VLAN_TRUNK1 and VLAN_TRUNK2.
• vSwitch0 is always configured as the management network.
• At most one network on vSwitch0 may have static IP network settings.
• All other specified vSwitches will be created, configured, teamed, with failover policies to allow VM guests to
utilize the networks.
• vSwitch1 in this example will team NICs created for VLAN_TRUNK3 and VLAN_TRUNK4. Note that these trunks
are not defined elsewhere in our example and are only used to indicate the syntax of the property.
4. Additional customization can be accomplished, including:
a. Exclude certain networks and vSwitch definitions from the property.
b. Create a different user-defined property for the server group.
c. Modify the injection script on the IC server provisioning appliance to utilize the new property or properties.
Configure storage
To deploy an ESXi host on a physical server blade, a storage pool entry must be available for the boot disk (or HP Storage
Provisioning Manager could be in use and Matrix infrastructure orchestration can auto-generate the storage pool entry and
