2. In the Analysis Query Definition screen:
a. Enter a query name of VMs with one too many cores.
b. Select the Viewable by all check box if others will be using this query, or leave it unselected
if you will be the only person using the query.
c. Enter a description.
For example: Locate VMs with at least two cores where the 15-minute sustained CPU load
would be less than 80% if one core was removed. The goal is to find cores that could be
removed from the VMs to save licensing costs.
Selecting the data to include in the query results
1. Click Choose… to display the Attribute Selection dialog box.
To produce information you need, you decide to display the following information in the query
results:
Information to identify the system: The system name and type of virtual machine.
The core count.
The system loads: The 15-minute CPU percentage, the 90th percentile CPU percentage,
and the average CPU percentage.
2. Select the check boxes for the following attributes:
System tab: Select System Name and Type.
CPU tab: Select 15-Min CPU (%), 90%ile CPU (%), Avg CPU (%), and Core Count.
3. Click OK.
The selected columns are now visible on the right-hand side of the Analysis Query Definition
screen.
4. Optional. Reorder, resize, or change the sort order of the columns.
Defining the filter
1. Click Filter System List… to open the query filter editor.
2. Confirm that All is selected in the Match drop-down list at the top of the filter.
3. Click the icon and select Any in the Match drop-down list that appears.
4. Repeat step 3.
