HP Insight Orchestration 6.3 User Guide

4 Insight Orchestration provisioning and allocation
Insight Orchestration lifecycle operations
Insight Orchestration covers the IT lifecycle, from the initial design of system configurations to the
ultimate repurposing of assets. It enables IT resource request to be handled in a systemic manner
than leverages standard configurations, self service provisioning tools, and automated approval
processes.
Insight Orchestration executes the following infrastructure lifecycle management operations:
Create service
Automatically provision infrastructure based on the specification in a service template, using
resources allocated from assigned pools
Delete service
Automatically de-provision existing infrastructure and free the resources for use in other services
Add servers to group
Add servers to an existing infrastructure service, allocating and provisioning them
Add data disk to group
Add data disks to an existing infrastructure service, allocating the disks and attaching them
to the appropriate servers
Activate
Registers the VM with the VM host
Deactivate
Unregisters the VM from the VM host
Deactivate servers in group
Deactivate physical servers
Activate servers in group
Reactivate physical servers
Power on servers in group
Turn on power to server
Power off servers in group
Turn off power to server
Change lease period
Change the lease start or end dates for an infrastructure service
Create service operation
The Create Service operation automatically provisions an infrastructure based on the specification
in a service template, using resources allocated from assigned pools. During a Create Service
operation, Insight Orchestration:
Validates the request
Allocates network and IP addresses
Allocates the servers (server blades or virtual machine hosts)
