Important tips
• If needed, upgrade to the latest firmware version before use. When included in a BladeSystem
solution, MDS600 firmware updates must be performed through the HP Virtual SAS Manager
utility on the switch. For more information on firmware updating methods, see “Maintenance
and troubleshooting” (page 76).
• MDS600 storage is configured and managed in the following sequence, using different
applications:
◦ Create drive-bay zone groups and assign the zone groups to BladeSystem c-Class
enclosure server bays using HP Virtual SAS Manager (VSM). For more information about
VSM, see “HP Virtual SAS Manager” (page 42).
◦ Configure drives in the zone group into arrays and LUNs using the HP Array Configuration
Utility (ACU). For more information about the ACU, see “HP Array Configuration Utility”
(page 45).
◦ Manage the MDS600 using HP Systems Insight Manager (SIM). For more information
about SIM, see “HP Systems Insight Manager” (page 46).
