This manual describes how to use HP Traffic Server® Media-IXT™ as a proxy cache for streaming media
content.
Media-IXT performs proxy caching of streaming media content for RealPlayer®, Windows Media™ Player
and QuickTime™ Player.
Who should read this manual
This manual is intended for Media-IXT system administrators who configure, run, and administer Traffic
Server Media-IXT systems.
The manual assumes that you have experience in UNIX® or Linux and Web server administration, and that you
are comfortable performing complex system configuration tasks. It also assumes you have experience in basic
Traffic Server functionality and configuration procedures or will reference the HP Cache Server Appliance
Administrator Guide which is included on your HP documentation CD-ROM.
Conventions used in this manual
This manual uses the following typographic conventions.
Throughout the remainder of this manual, we refer to Traffic Server Media-IXT simply as Media-IXT.

bold Represents graphical user interface options and menu names.
monospaced face Represents commands, file names, file content, computer input and output; for
example “use the reconfigure command.”
