Availability and access to a data center leak detection system to monitor the infrastructure system
for leaks
Water shutoff and bypass valves to allow infrastructure system flushing for the inlet and outlet of
each HP MCS G2 (highly recommended)
Air vents installed at the highest point in the pipe system (each HP MCS G2 has an air vent, but
additional vents in the supply piping system should be considered)
HP recommends the HP Water Hook-up Option Kit AF089A (available at www.hp.com) for
connecting the HP MCS G2 to a facility’s chilled water system. Each kit (figure 17) includes the hoses
and accessories required for connecting the facility supply and return lines to the main inlet and outlet
connections of an HP MCS G2 unit, and should be installed prior to the delivery of an HP MCS G2.

An HP Water Hook-up Option Kit should be installed prior to activating an HP MCS G2. Figure 18
shows the length of approximately 350 centimeters (138 inches) of flexible hose terminated with
fittings at each end. For detailed information, refer to the instructions provided with the kit.

Caution:
It is essential that the cabinet and facility cool water inlet and warm water
outlet hoses are connected properly. The HP MCS G2 does include a check
valve to prevent the reverse flow of coolant.
