Note

The temperatures stated are for an elevation of 0 to 5,000 feet above sea

level. The maximum operating temperatures must be derated by 1ºC per

1,000 feet for locations at 5,000 to 10,000 feet above sea level.

Control system

The HP MCS G2 includes a control system that constantly monitors the air temperatures, water

temperatures, and flow rate. The management module attempts to maintain the air temperature at the

target set point. If the set point temperature cannot be maintained, the HP MCS G2 management

module will generate an alarm and notify facility management systems as configured.

Before installing/running active components

Prior to starting up any active components (servers, storage devices, and so on) mounted in the

HP MCS G2 rack unit, the following steps must be performed:

 Ensure that the chilled water source is on and flowing prior to the startup of an HP MCS G2 unit.

 Make sure the HP MCS G2 is fully operational and running before turning on the servers and

closing the front/rear cabinet doors.

Caution:

If the HP MCS G2 unit is left running in manual mode for a period of time

without an adequate heat load being generated by servers or other

computing/networking devices, excess condensation could occur within the

cabinet or system.
