HP Modular Cooling System Site Preparation Guide

Key HP MCS Components
The HP MCS is comprised of the key components described below (and shown in Figure 4) that
work together to provide cooling performance:
Fan Module—Module containing one of the main, internal circulation fans. There are three fan
modules within the HP Modular Cooling System.
Heat Exchanger Module (HEX)—The air-to-water heat transfer device was specially-created for
demanding data center environments, and is the key component within the heat exchanger unit.
There are three heat exchanger units within each HP Modular Cooling System.
AC Transfer Switch—This module provides dual AC power with a fail-over feature for
redundancy.
Water Group—Includes the magnetic valve, flow meter, and check valve. A condensation pump
(not shown) connects to the water group. There is one water group in each HP Modular Cooling
System.
Management Module—Provides users with web-based capabilities to set, monitor and control
temperature within the modular cooling unit, as well as displays the health of the unit.
Rear patch panel (not shown)—Provides AC power connections and a network interface.
