HP Modular Cooling System Site Preparation Guide
Space Considerations
The HP MCS is larger (and, when fully populated, heavier) than a standard 19-inch equipment
rack. Space for maneuvering, operating, and servicing the HP MCS are therefore greater than
standard-sized racks.
Delivery and Maneuvering Space Requirements
It is important to ensure the facility has adequate space to receive and remove the HP MCS unit
from the shipping skid. The following should be considered when unloading the HP MCS:
• Fork lifts should enter and transport the shipping pallet from the side.
• Delivery plans should include the possible removal of walls or door
• A total length of approximately 19 feet (5.8 meters) should be allowed to safely remove the HP
MCS unit from the shipping pallet down the provided ramps.
• The packaged dimensions of the HP MCS (including shock pallet and cartons) are:
88.5 inches (2248 mm) height x 48 inches (1219 mm) width x 70 inches (1778 mm)
When maneuvering the HP MCS, please use the following guidelines:
• Make sure there is a room and door large enough to accommodate the movement of the HP
MCS cabinet into the data center.
• Be sure elevators are of an adequate size to hold the HP MCS when transporting it to an upper
or lower building floor.
• Be sure that doorway thresholds are adequate to hold the MCS when transporting within a
building.
It is
not recommended that the HP MCS be lifted or transported by eyebolts that could be attached
to the upper corners of the cabinet.
Figure 5 shows the maneuvering space required when unloading the HP MCS from a pallet. Use
the delivery forms provided in
Appendix A when planning for unit maneuvering.
