Pipe: 1 ¼-inch copper, Type L, hard-drawn
Fittings: Wrought copper
Solder: 95-5 Tin Antimony
Thread Sealant: RectorSeal® No. 7, RectorSeal® Tru-Blu™, or equivalent
Preparation: Cut tubing square and remove burrs. Clean both inside of fittings and outside of
tubing with steel wool and muriatic acid before sweating. Avoid annealing of fittings and
hard-drawn tubing when making connections

Flow/Measurement
Balancing Valve
Valve type: ¼-inch bronze balancing valve, ball design, with positive shutoff, integral
checked metering ports, adjustable knob, memory device, calibrated nameplate, integral
drain port, and solder end connections
Position: horizontal run of pipe.
Centerline elevation: 8 inches above base floor.
NOTE: Orient drain port toward MCS. Avoid fittings closer to measurement valve than five
(5) pipe diameters upstream and two (2) pipe diameters downstream for maximum
performance.
Watts® CSM-61 or equivalent, typical 1.
3 Pipe 1 ¼-inch copper, male (MPT) adapter, typical 1
4 Fitting
1 ¼-inch female fitting from water kit supplied by Hewlett-Packard and installed by plumbing
contractor, typical 1.
NOTE: Follow critical tightening instructions supplied with fitting.

Strainer Isolation
Valves
Valve type: 1 ¼-inch two-piece, full-port, brass ball valve, with chrome plated brass ball, PTFE
seats, steel handle, with solder end connections.
Pressure rating: 600psi WOG, 150psi WSP.
Centerline elevation, 6 inches minimum above base floor.
Orientation: Stem vertical up for lateral level operation. Offset valves on CHWS and CHWR
piping to prevent interference from lever actuators when closed.
Watts® FBVS-3C or equivalent, typical 4.
7 Strainer
Type: 1 ¼-inch wye-patterned bronze strainer, with #30 stainless steel wire mesh liner, solid
retainer cap & gasket, and solder end connections.
Pressure rating: 400 psi WOG, 125psi WSP.
Centerline elevation: 6 inches minimum above base floor.
Orientation: with basket branch down.
