HP Modular Cooling System Site Preparation Guide
NOTE:
Be aware of the potential for slight front or rear door swing interference
when arranging the HP MCS immediately next to a HP 10000 Series
rack, depending on the configuration. Equipment may require the
removal of a door for full, unimpeded access.
Piping Approaches
There are many different ways to approach the HP MCS with chilled water piping. Note, however,
that facility pipes must end within a critical distance of the HP MCS for accessible connections. The
following sections present three different directions that piping can approach the rear of the MCS
with their related critical dimensions.
HP recommends the following methods for facility plumbing orientation with the HP MCS:
• Direct rear approach
• Left rear approach
• Right rear approach
NOTE:
It is possible to approach the HP MCS from the front with piping.
However, this approach requires careful planning for accessible
component locations and hose attachments.
Figures 20 through 22 show the recommended facility piping approaches to the HP MCS. The
critical dimensions for the pipes and the position of the HP MCS are all in relation to the Reference
Point indicated in each illustration. Each illustration includes the fixed and variable dimensions for
piping to and from the HP MCS.
