UTC Coordinated Universal Time. The primary time standard by which the world regulates clocks
and time. It replaces Greenwich Mean Time.
UTF-8 UCS transformation format - 8-bit. A variable-width encoding that can represent every
character in the Unicode character set used for the CLI and WBI interfaces.
vdisk A virtual disk comprising the capacity of one or more disks. The number of disks that a
vdisk can contain is determined by its RAID level.
vdisk spare See dedicated spare.
virtual disk See vdisk.
volume A portion of the capacity of a vdisk that can be presented as a storage device to a host.
volume copy An independent copy (clone) of the data in a volume. The capability to create volume
copies makes use of snapshot functionality.
WBEM Web-Based Enterprise Management. A set of management and internet standard
technologies developed to unify the management of enterprise computing environments.
