Version: 4.06.00 Description This package contains the HP StorageWorks P6000 Hardware Providers software for Windows. In this document, Enterprise Virtual Array is abbreviated to EVA. The hardware providers software works with the Microsoft Virtual Disk Service (VDS) and Microsoft Volume Shadow Copy Service (VSS) to enable Windows applications to manage HP StorageWorks P6000 storage systems and create shadow copies of HP P6000 storage system volumes. Update recommendation: Recommended Supersedes: 4.05.
Enhancements VDS and VSS Hardware Providers 4.06.00 includes the following enhancements: • Supports P6300 and P6500 EVA Storage System • Supports HP StorageWorks Command View EVA 9.4 • Supports Space Efficient Empty Container (SEEC) for creating demand allocated snapshots for firmware version starting from 10000000 Fixes VDS and VSS Hardware Providers 4.06.00 includes the following fixes: • The VSS/VDS Configuration utility also accepts Command View password which is blank.
To install and configure the HP P6000 VSS hardware provider on cluster nodes, you must have installed the Microsoft Distributed Transaction Coordinator, and it must be running. Some applications, such as in Microsoft Exchange and SQL clusters, required a MSDTC cluster resource to be created as part of the application setup. In this case no additional steps are required to install the HP P6000 VSS hardware provider.
NOTE: For VMware and Hyper-v Guest Operating systems, only Raw Device Mapping (RDM) disks are supported. • VDS Hardware Provider • Supports Hyper-V Host and Guest O/S. The unmask/present operation of a LUN to the local host is not supported on a Hyper-V guest OS. • Supports VMware VM. The unmask/present operation of a LUN to the local host is not supported on a VMware VM.
