HP StorageWorks 1/8 G2 and MSL magazine upgrade and replacement (AH218-96021, November 2009)

From the RMI:
Go to Operations > Magazines. Select Left, Right, or Both, and then
click on Release. Pull the released magazine(s) out of the device. If
selecting Both, follow the instructions that display on the OCP.
Using the manual release:
From the back of the device, determine which magazines need to be
removed. Number 1 will release all of the right magazines, Number 2
will release all of the left magazines.
1) Insert a straightened paper clip or small metal pin about 1.5 cm (0.6
inch) into the appropriate magazine release hole, while 2) another
person grasps the magazines on that side and removes them from the
Autoloader or Library.
IMPORTANT:
Do not force the pin once you encounter resistance. Doing so
can damage the Autoloader or Library.
Replacing the tape cartridges and
magazine(s)
Transfer the tape cartridges from the old magazine(s) to the new
magazine(s) if necessary. Tapes may be pushed out of the slots by
pushing the tape through the hole on the back of the magazine.
IMPORTANT:
The clear plastic pieces in the magazine slots are required by
the robotics for slot alignment. Never remove these clear plastic
pieces.
Slide the magazine(s) completely into the device. The magazine(s) will
lock into place. The Library or Autoloader will re-inventory the
magazine(s) after the magazine(s) have been installed.
The MSL4048, MSL8048, and MSL8096 Tape Libraries and their
mailslot-capable lower-left magazine have corresponding white dots on
1) the front bezel, and 2) the magazine. For mailslot capability, place
the magazine with the mailslot in the lower left magazine bay.
A magazine without mailslot capability, with a single mailslot, or with
three mailslots can be installed in the lower left magazine position. The
Library mailslot configuration will change if the new magazine is different
from the previously installed magazine.
A mailslot magazine placed in a location other than the lower left
magazine position will behave as a 12-slot magazine without a mailslot.
