HP StorageWorks MSL4048 Tape Library firmware release notes - (AK380-96015; February 2012)

Fixes
Version 8.10
Improved vertical positioning algorithms to reduce the occurrence of errors 8A 4B (Destination
full or blocked) and 8A 4D (Could not pull tape out of slot).
Fixed a case where the library reports Not Ready status after ‘hot plugging the library LUN
hosting drive, even though the RMI and OCP indicate that the library and drives are Ready. This
failure to initialize the drive interface after ‘hot plugging is corrected. ‘Hot plugging drives has
never been a supported product feature. Drives should be powered off using the OCP or RMI
prior to removal.
Fixed a case where an Email Alert or SNMP trap was not sent when the Password Required for
Magazine Access configuration was changed.
Fixed a case where changing the Password Required for Magazine Access configuration incorrectly
displayed a Control Path Failover (CPF) configuration change pop-up screen on the RMI.
Modified the Extended Mode selection on the RMI System Configuration screen to allow a selection
to disable Extended Mode. In previous releases, if Extended Mode was selected on the RMI
configuration page then the only RMI method available to disable the Extended Mode selection
was to use the Restore Defaults configuration function.
Fixed a case where access to an SNTP (Simple Network Time Protocol) server could not be
configured if the last block (3 digits) of the SNTP server address (IPv4) contained a '0'. For
example, if 10.40.3.207 is input then the address switches to 10.40.3.27 and is not accepted
and the operation is not executed. This release operates correctly when the last value of the IPv4
address contains a ‘0’.
Previous releases allowed many RMI configuration changes to revert to displaying the old value
while the change was in progress and only displayed the new value after the change was reported
to be complete. This version has modified the configuration change process to switch to a new
display screen while the change is in progress. The screen displays the message The system
configuration is currently being updated. This may take up to 2 minutes.
Please wait until the configuration update is completed before
continuing. After the configuration change is complete, the previous configuration screen is
displayed with the new configuration values incorporated.
Version 7.80
Fixed issues that resulted in error code 0xFA (SDCI Microcode Error) in libraries using LTO2 and
LTO3 tape drives. This problem was introduced in the previous firmware version.
Version 7.70
Fixed incorrect error messages when an Encryption Kit PIN is entered that is shorter than the
required eight characters. Now, the correct response At least 8 characters are
required for PIN! is displayed on an RMI screen dialog. Prior versions could display either
The entered PIN is too long. A maximum of 15 characters are allowed
for PIN! or Invalid key server token PIN is entered.
Fixed a case where the Library appears unresponsive after changing the network mode from IPv4
to IPv6 and then pressing the delete button to delete the IPv6 Static Assigned Addresses.
Fixed a case where the Library does not load the next tape after a cleaning tape is returned to
its original storage slot when the device is configured in Sequential Mode.
