HP StorageWorks MSL2024, MSL4048, and MSL8096 Tape Libraries Ultrium 1840 tape drive firmware release notes (AK378-96025, August 2009)

Automation issues
Improvements/enhancements to Library to Drive communications
Some improvements and enhancement have been made in Library to Drive communications.
Universal cleaning cartridge issues
Cleaning tape with stuck leader pin gets stuck in drive
If a UCC with a stuck leader pin is loaded into a drive the tape would not being ejected and the drive
would not report a fault.
Universal Cleaning Cartridge load count not incremented
On previous versions of FW a cleaning cartridge that was not initialized correctly was not increasing
the thread count and usage with each load. This issue has been fixed.
Other issues
FUP success but report failed & performs wrong type of reset
Previously, when upgrading the firmware with a Firmware Update Tape (FUP) the flash is written
correctly, but the checksum verification fails. The drive then posts the wrong type for the reset - i.e.
unknown soft reset instead of f/w reset. This has been fixed.
No tape error LED for FUP failure due to unsigned image
Attempting to download an unsigned image over a signed image fails with error code 0x1C21 error
code in the fault log but there is no indication that anything was wrong on the front panel. This was
caused by a failure to include the new fail code into the SDL code which controls the front panel LEDs.
