Libraries library controller
replacement
The library controller is a mandatory customer self re-
pair part. HP customer self repair (CSR) programs al-
low you to repair your StorageWorks product. If a
CSR part needs replacing, HP ships the part directly
to you so that you can install it at your convenience.
For more information about CSR, contact your local
service provider. For North America, see the CSR
website: www.hp.com/go/selfrepair

CAUTION:
Parts can be damaged by electrostatic discharge. Keep parts
in electrostatic containers until needed. Ensure you are properly
grounded when touching the library controllers.
CAUTION:
This part is not hot-pluggable. You must power off the Library
to install or replace this part.
IMPORTANT:
Do not replace both the chassis and the library controller with
repair components in the same procedure. The firmware will
not allow the Library to operate if both components are replaced
at the same time. The Library WWID and serial number are
saved in the library controller card and within the chassis
robotics controller. When one is replaced, the data from the
original component is transferred to the repair component.
1 Preparing to replace the library
controller
The Library configuration settings are saved on the library robotics and
will be restored automatically when the library controller is replaced.
Before removing the library controller, you may also save the
configuration settings. Refer to the HP StorageWorks MSL2024,
MSL4048, MSL8048, and MSL8096 user and service guide for
instructions on saving configuration settings to a file or USB flash drive
via the operator control panel (OCP) or to a system file using the remote
management interface (RMI).
Power off the Library from the front panel. Unplug the AC power cables.
