R2511-HP MSR Router Series Layer 2 - WAN Command Reference(V5)
116
On a DCE or NNI frame relay main interface or subinterface, you must manually create the virtual
circuits.
On a DTE main interface, the device automatically creates virtual circuits according to the settings
received from the DCE side. If you do that manually, make sure that the DLCIs of the virtual circuits are
identical to those used on the DCE.
On a DTE subinterface, you must manually create the virtual circuits.
Examples
# Assign a virtual circuit with DLCI 100 to frame relay interface Serial 2/0.

fr dlci-switch
Use fr dlci-switch to configure a static route for frame relay PVC switching.
Use undo fr dlci-switch to delete a static route for frame relay PVC switching.
Syntax
fr dlci-switch in-dlci interface interface-type interface-number dlci out-dlci
undo fr dlci-switch in-dlci
Default
No static routes are configured for frame relay PVC switching.
Views

Default command level
2: System level
Parameters
in-dlci: DLCI in the packets received on the interface, in the range 16 to 1007.
interface interface-type interface-number: Specifies an interface by its type and number.
dlci out-dlci: Specifies the DLCI carried in the packets sent, in the range 16 to 1007.
Usage guidelines
Before the static route of frame relay PVC is configured, you must enable the frame relay PVC switching
first by using the command fr switching.
To make FR switching take effect, you must configure the fr dlci-switch command on both interfaces used
for FR switching.
The default type of the forwarding interface can be frame relay or MFR. However, you can specify a
tunnel interface for forwarding. This enables the transmission of frame relay packets over IP networks.
Examples
# Configure a static route, allowing the packets on the link with DLCI of 100 on Serial 2/0 to be
forwarded over the link with DLCI of 200 on interface Serial 2/1.
