Usage guidelines
With FRF.9 stac compression, messages are categorized into control messages and data messages.
Control messages negotiate state between the two ends of a DLCI connection with the compression
protocol enabled. FRF.9 data messages are exchanged only after the state negotiation succeeds. If FRF.9
stac compression fails to negotiate the state after sending a specific number of FRF.9 control messages,
the negotiation stops, and the compression configuration cannot take effect.
Frame relay main interface is of the point-to-multipoint type, but the subinterfaces include the following
types:
• Point-to-point.
• Point-to-multipoint.
