R2511-HP MSR Router Series Layer 2 - WAN Command Reference(V5)

47
Default command level
2: System level
Parameters
number: Maximum number of connections allowed by TCP header compression, in the range of 3 to
256.
Usage guidelines
TCP is connection-oriented; and a link can accommodate multiple TCP connections. With TCP header
compression enabled, the compression algorithm maintains the information about each connection in
the memory. By setting the maximum number of connections allowed by TCP header compression, you
can limit the memory used by the compression algorithm. For example, if you limit TCP connections to
three, the packets on the fourth TCP connection will not be compressed.
After executing the ppp compression iphc tcp-connections command, you must shut down and then bring
up the interface for the new setting to take effect. If the configuration is for an MP bundle, you must shut
down and then bring up all the MP member interfaces.
Examples
# Set the maximum number of connections allowed by TCP compression to 10 on interface serial 2/0.

ppp compression stac-lzs
Use ppp compression stac-lzs to enable Stac LZS compression on an interface.
Use undo ppp compression stac-lzs to disable Stac LZS compression.
Syntax
ppp compression stac-lzs
undo ppp compression stac-lzs
Default
Stac LZS compression is disabled.

Usage guidelines
Stac LZS compression is supported on the current version of system. Stac LZS compression is lossless.
However, as this can increase the load on the device, do not enable Stac LZS compression when the
device is busy.
Stac LZS compression takes effect on a PPP link only when it is enabled on both sides of the link.
Outbound expedite forwarding is not available on links with Stac LZS compression enabled. Disable
outbound expedite forwarding before executing the ppp compression stac-lzs command.
After you enable Stac LZS compression on a VT and Dialer interface, or ISDN interface, you must shut
down and then bring up the interface for the configuration to take effect.
