Adding a terminating VE interface to a VE group
Ste
p
Command
Remarks
1. Enter system view.
system-view N/A
2. Create a terminating VE
interface and enter
terminating VE interface view.
interface ve-l2vpn-terminate
interface-number
No terminating VE interface exists
by default.
The device supports 8192
terminating VE interfaces at most.
3. Add the terminating VE
interface to a VE group.
ve-group ve-group-id
A terminating VE interface does not
belong to any VE group by default.
You can add only one terminating
VE interface to a VE group.
NOTE:
On some devices, a VE
g
roup must have the same number as the VE interfaces it comprises. For example,
you can add the interface VE-L2VPN-Terminate 100 only to VE group 100.
Adding an access VE interface to a VE group
Ste

Command
Remarks
1. Enter system view.
system-view N/A
2. Create an access VE
interface and enter
access VE interface view.
interface ve-l3vpn-access
interface-number
No access VE interface exists by default.
The device supports 8192 access VE
interfaces at most.
3. Add the access VE
interface to a VE group.
ve-group ve-group-id
An access VE interface does not belong to
any VE group by default.
You can add only one access VE interface to
a VE group.
4. Return to system view.
quit
Required to create a subinterface on an
access VE interface.
5. Create a subinterface on
the access VE interface
and enter subinterface
view.
interface ve-l3vpn-access
interface-number.subnumber
Optional.
When the packets entering the MPLS L3VPN
or IP backbone carry VLAN tags, you must
create a subinterface on the access VE
interface to terminate the VLAN tags. For
more information about VLAN termination,
see Layer 2—LAN Switching Configuration
Guide.
An access VE interface supports 1024
subinterfaces at most. You cannot add a
subinterface to a VE group. A subinterface
always belongs to the same VE group as the
main interface. An access VE interface and
its subinterfaces are all used to access the
MPLS L3VPN or IP backbone.
