R2511-HP MSR Router Series Network Management and Monitoring Configuration Guide(V5)

{ Forwarding delay for the first NTDP-enabled port—After receiving a topology request, the
requested device forwards the request out of the first NTDP-enabled port when this forwarding
delay expires rather than immediately.
{ Forwarding delay for other NTDP-enabled ports—After the first NTDP-enabled port forwards
the request, all other NTDP-enabled ports forward the request in turn at this delay interval.
The delay settings are conveyed in topology requests sent to the requested devices. They help
avoid concurrent responses to an NTDP topology-collection request causing congestion and deny
of service on the management device.
To configure NTDP parameters:
Ste
p
Command
Remarks
1. Enter system view.
system-view N/A
2. Configure the maximum hops
for topology collection.
ntdp hop hop-value
Optional.
The default setting is 3.
3. Configure the interval for
collecting topology
information.
ntdp timer interval
Optional.
The default setting is 1 minute.
4. Configure the delay for the
first NTDP-enabled port to
forward a topology-collection
request.
ntdp timer hop-delay delay-time
Optional.
The default setting is 200 ms.
5. Configure the delay for other
NTDP-enabled ports to
forward a topology-collection
request.
ntdp timer port-delay delay-time
Optional.
The default setting is 20 ms.
Manually collecting topology information
The management device collects topology information periodically after a cluster is created. In addition,
you can configure to manually initiate topology information collection on the management device or
NTDP-enabled device, thus managing and monitoring devices in real time, regardless of whether a
cluster is created.
To configure to manually collect topology information:
Task Command
Remarks
Manually collect topology
information.
ntdp explore N/A
Enabling the cluster function

2. Enable the cluster function
globally.
cluster enable
Optional.
By default, this function is enabled.
