Protocol
Data link layer state of the interface:
• UP—The data link layer of the interface is up.
• DOWN—The data link layer of the interface is
down.
• UP(s)—The data link layer of the interface is
spoofing up. This state is available for on-demand
link setup applications. This state enables the
device to initiate an on-demand link setup when a
link is not present.
Main IP Main IP address of the interface.
Description
Description of the interface configured by using the
description command.
• If the description keyword is not specified in the
display interface brief command, this field displays
a maximum of 27 characters.
• If the description keyword is specified in the
display interface brief command, this field displays
the full interface description.
Cause
Causes for the physical state of an interface to be
down.
• Administratively—The port is manually shut down
by using the shutdown command. To bring up the
interface, use the undo shutdown command.
• Not connected—No physical connection exists
possibly because the network cable is
disconnected or faulty.
