set authentication password
Use set authentication password to set a password for password authentication.
Use undo set authentication password to remove the password.
Syntax
set authentication password { hash | simple } password
undo set authentication password
Default
No password is set for password authentication.

Parameters
hash: Sets a hashed password.
simple: Sets a plaintext password.
password: Specifies the password string. This argument is case sensitive. If simple is specified, it must be
a string of 1 to 16 characters. If hash is specified, it must be a string of 1 to 110 characters.
Usage guidelines
For security purposes, the password is hashed before being saved, whether you specify the hash or
simple keyword.
This command is not supported in FIPS mode.
Examples
# Set the password for password authentication on user line Console 0 to hello.
<Sysname> system-view
[Sysname] line console 0
[Sysname-line-console0] authentication-mode password
[Sysname-line-console0] set authentication password simple hello
When you log in again through user line Console 0, you must enter the password hello to pass
authentication.
