Preparing for the upgrade

network and verify the following items:
{ Software and hardware compatibility
{ Version and size of the upgrade software
{ Compatibility of the upgrade software with the current Boot ROM image and startup software
image
3. Use the software version-matching release notes to identify software feature licensing requirements.
If licenses are required, register and activate licenses for each license-based software image. For
more information about licensing, see "Managing licenses."
4. Prepare for storage space:
{ On an MSR2000 or MSR3000, use the dir command to verify that the device has sufficient
storage space for the upgrade images, and use the delete command to delete unused files.
{ On an MSR4000, use the dir command to verify that both MPUs have sufficient storage space
for the upgrade images, and use the delete command to delete unused files.
For more information, see "Managing the file system."
5. Configure FTP and TFTP settings.
6. Use FTP or TFTP to download the upgrade image file:
{ On an MSR2000 or MSR3000, download the file to the root directory of the storage medium
on the device.
{ On an MSR4000, download the file to the root directory of the storage medium on the active
