To configure ISDN on a BRI, perform the following tasks:
Tasks at a
g
lance
(Required.) Setting the ISDN protocol for an ISDN interface
(Required.) Setting the protocol mode for an ISDN interface
(Optional.) Configuring SPID of the ISDN NI protocol
(Required.) Configuring negotiation parameters of ISDN Q.931 protocols
(Optional.) Configuring ISDN B channel local management
(Optional.) Configuring a permitted calling number for incoming calls
(Optional.) Configuring the calling number of outgoing calls
(Required.) Configuring the sliding window size on an ISDN BRI
A CE1/PRI interface can operate in CE1/PRI mode. To make sure a CE1/PRI interface and a CT1/PRI
interface operate in PRI mode, you must use the pri-set command to bundle timeslots into a PRI set on the
CE1/PRI interface and the CT1/PRI interface before configuring the following tasks. For more
information, see Interface Configuration Guide.

Setting the ISDN protocol for an ISDN interface
The ISDN protocol proposed by the ITU-T provides different services in different areas, which forms the
ISDN protocols that are suitable for different regions, such as NTT in Japan, ETSI in Europe, and NI, AT&T
and ANSI in North America.
Besides the default DSS1 ISDN protocol, the device supports the basic calling function of NTT, ETSI, AT&T,
ANSI, NI, NI2, QSIG, and 5ESS protocols, but does not support supplementary functions of these
protocols. Select a suitable ISDN protocol according to your region.
The following table shows whether these ISDN protocols can be configured on ISDN interfaces:
