on a BRI or PRI is DSS1.
Setting the protocol mode for an ISDN interface
Protocol mode for an ISDN interface includes user side mode and network side mode. For two ISDN
devices that communicate with each other, set the two interfaces on each device for the communication
to operate in user side mode and network side mode, respectively.
When a BRI on a BSV card directly connects to an ISDN phone, set the BRI to the network side mode. For
other scenarios, set an ISDN interface to the user side mode.
When you configure this task, follow these guidelines:
A BRI for data services does not support the network side mode.
The ANSI, AT&T, ETSI, NI, and NTT protocols supports only the user side mode.
You can perform this task only if no call exists on the ISDN interface.
